The Robertson family, owners of The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, purchased Matakauri Lodge in August 2009. Since then it has been closed and is undergoing extensive refurbishment with plans to re-open in August 2010.
Built in 2000, Matakauri Lodge was New Zealand’s first organic Spa and named in Tatler’s Top 101 Hotels of the World List 2008. We plan to not only retain Matakauri’s original charm but enhance each suite and living space to ensure the commanding views from the lodge may be truly appreciated. Every modern amenity our guests could wish for will be offered when we re-open.
Unlike Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers, there is not a golf course on the property, but with Queenstown and its picturesque golf courses plus a plethora of adventurous activities which this special part of New Zealand is renowned for right on Matakauri’s doorstep, there will be much to offer our guests. Like its two sister properties, stylish interiors, superb food and wine, memorable service and stunning panoramic views will be a common thread.
